Critical Focus SCDD Criminal Justice Projects

Doing Justice: Criminal Offenders with Developmental Disabilities (This report was not funded by the Council, but several Council grants are described in the document)

Families for Early Autism Treatment (FEAT) used a $219,000 Council grant to Project Hope as the initial seed money to found the M.I.N.D. Institute, a world-class research center investigating autism and other neurological disorders. The M.I.N.D. Institute received $34 million in state funding for research in the 2000-2001 State Budget, and $33 million in the recently enacted 2001-2002 Budget. The Federal Government maintains a comprehensive website containing information for people with disabilities.  Please visit their website at:

In late 2001, the Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment funded national technical assistance centers designed to assist the workforce development community to address the issues affecting the employment of people with disabilities. California Department of Education

Need technical assistance information on an educational matter? Call the California Department of Education toll-free at 1-800-926-0648, weekdays between 9:00am and 4:00pm. The Department of Education provides technical assistance information and resources for California parents, school districts, advocates, agencies and others of procedural safeguards regarding students ages 3-21 with disabilities and their educational rights.
