Who is a “Legislator” or “Elected Official”?
Legislators are elected to represent you. They are your elected officials. They may be senators, representatives, or assemblymembers
Why is it Important to Advocate with your Legislator or Elected Official?
Advocating with elected officials about important issues can make a difference. The elected officials need to learn from you about key issues affecting your life and your community. They will never know how you feel about important matters or proposed laws if they do not hear from you.
Meeting, calling, and writing emails or letters are valuable ways to make sure your ideas are heard. Knowing who your legislators are and learning about them makes it easier to express your opinion on issues of concern to you. Making scheduled visits and having regular contact develops relationships with your legislators and their staff.
The following pages list and provide information about the state legislators who represent the Area Board 9 region. Links to websites of each State Senator and Assemblymember are included. The pages include their contact information (email, website and Capitol and district office), who they are, and additional information about their interest areas.
