Welcome to the State Council on Developmental Disabilities

National Core Indicators

In May 2010, The State Council on Developmental Disabilities, in cooperation with The Department of Developmental Services and Human Services Research Institute (HSRI), joined 26 other states in conducting quality assurance interviews using the nationally recognized National Core Indicators (NCI) assessment. Information is gathered from two populations – individuals receiving services that live in the community and those that live with their families. Surveys are conducted both face-to-face and by mail. Participants and/or their families or conservator(s) are selected at random and at this time over 33,000 surveys have been mailed and 8400 face-to-face surveys have been conducted. These surveys help California to compare their services to that of other states and measure satisfaction in all areas of service delivery.
